On Saturday 7/7/12 I photographed the beautiful wedding between Kahdi and Craig. After visiting Tamborine Mountain from Darwin they instantly feel in love with the idyllic setting of Saint Bernards. Overlooking rolling hills and with terraced gardens, it was easy to see why they picked the hotel for their special day. The atmosphere is always relaxed when I visit saint Bernards and it is blessed with the most spectacular light just before sunset. Walking around the gardens you are always welcomed by the Saint Bernards Dogs, Molly and Leo along with Ducks and geese that freely roam.
Kahdi and the girls spent the morning getting ready in the sun room at the Escarpment before heading out to the gardens for a little mini shoot. Kahdi looked delightful in her cute 50s inspired tulle dress. I loved the way the sun shone through her dress and made her look like a magical garden fairy. She also wore the most beautiful jewel incrusted shoes and headpiece. The most important and special piece of the day was the necklace and earnings Kahdi wore. This set was worn by her best friend who also wore them for her special day. Tragically she passed away last year so it was only fitting that kahdi would include her on a day that she wouldn’t have missed for the world.
Kahdi was walked down the isle by her dad and as Craig turned around I’m pretty sure I captured a tear in his eye. The ceremony was very moving and at times emotional and was conducted by Sheridan Bryant amongst the bubbles and sunshine.
During our location shoot we headed to the top of the hill where Kahdi and Craig let go of a bunch of balloons in remembrance of their friend. When I look back on the images of the day I can’t help but notice the way the light shone upon them all day, the way it burst through the clouds when the balloons where released…like a blessing from above.
